Miami-Dade County is helping residents facing out-of-control housing costs | Opinion

Kevin Marino Cabrera, Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, and their administration have sponsored legislation to implement the First-Time Homebuyers Program and the Housing Assistance Program for Miami-Dade County’s nearly 30,000 employees and their families, providing them with a chance to use their accrued annual leave to cover closing costs and down payments on first homes. Additionally, there is a home-beautification program for elderly residents and the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) to help with utility bills and other homeowner expenses.
